KPH Requirements for Transport Roles
Data Entry in Transport and Freight
Transport administration is high-volume, time-sensitive data work. At busy freight depots, clerks process hundreds of consignments per shift - entering collection and delivery details, pallet counts, weight data, vehicle references, and route codes into transport management systems. Errors cause misrouted freight, failed deliveries, and incorrect invoicing. Speed matters because manifesting must be completed before vehicles depart, but accuracy matters just as much - a wrong consignment number breaks the tracking chain entirely.
What Transport Employers Assess
Freight administration assessments typically test alphanumeric data entry speed and accuracy on entries that mirror real consignment and manifest data. Candidates should be comfortable with reference codes containing both letters and numbers, and should be able to maintain accuracy when switching between different data types quickly. Roles at parcel carriers, hauliers, and 3PL providers typically require 8,000 KPH at 97% accuracy as a minimum for back-office processing positions.
